A welded plate heat exchanger (WPHE) is a type of heat exchanger that uses a series of corrugated metal plates welded together by laser or argon arc welding. The plates are connected with molding strips, and there are no gaskets between the plates, making it suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure applications. WPHEs are divided into several types, including non-detachable fully welded, 2-sided detachable fully welded, 4-sided detachable fully welded (HFM bloc), and wide channel fully welded plate heat exchangers.

Unlike gasketed plate heat exchangers, WPHEs do not use gaskets or seals between the plates, making them suitable for applications where leakage is a concern.

Materials: The fresh water generator plates supplied by UNO PHE are made of Japanese titanium or Chinese titanium Grade 1 material. 

Grade 1 titanium alloy is a high-purity titanium alloy, also known as CP (commercial pure) titanium alloy, its chemical composition of titanium content of more than 99.5%, with excellent corrosion resistance, high strength and low density characteristics.

Thickness: The thickness of the plate is 0.5mm. This thickness of the plate not only ensures the strength, but also helps to improve the heat exchange efficiency.

UNO PHE offers new equivalent gaskets for fresh water generators. All Fresh Water Generator gaskets are made in the best rubber material quality which will ensure a correct fit.

Working principle and structure
Structure principle: Plate heat exchanger is composed of a series of pressed corrugated metal plates, which are separated by sealing gaskets and pressed by the frame and compression bolts to form a compact structure.

Working principle: Hot fluid and cold fluid flow between the plates, through the plate for heat exchange. A partition in the middle of the plate separates the hot and cold fluids, ensuring that they exchange heat as they flow.

The semi-welded plate heat exchanger is a highly efficient heat transfer device that uses plates to exchange heat between two fluids. This type of heat exchanger features welded channels on one side, while the other side remains gasketed. This design allows for efficient heat transfer while also providing superior reliability and durability. 

In the Semi-welded heat exchanger the refrigerant flows in laser-welded, sealed plate channels, and in the opposite channel the liquid brine flows in gasketed channels.
